Page templates

Here you can find full templates for common page types such as section pages, subsection/article pages and listings pages.

All the templates are responsive, and will automatically rearrange themselves to appear optimally at any screen size. When designing any page, remember to check how it looks on different screen sizes, including mobile.

The basic hierarchy for navigating a University of Cambridge local website is as follows:

• University homepage

  This is a unique template for the main University homepage, with its own header and footer. A compact variant of this header and footer appears on all other pages (see Global header).

• Section landing page

  A Section landing page is the homepage for an institution, organisation or theme within the University (eg Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages; Philanthropy/Alumni; Institute of Continuing Education).

• Subsection page with left navigation

  Subsection pages appear at levels beneath the Section landing page. This is the standard subsection page layout with left-hand navigation. For more detail about how the local navigation behaves on Subsection pages, see Local navigation.

• Subsection page without left navigation

  This Subsection page variant is for subsection pages that don’t need a left-hand navigation.

  This will only be the case when the local navigation is only one level deep: in other words, where the local site only consists of the pages listed in the horizontal navigation bar.

• NEW - Subsection page with picture but without right column

  This variant can be used when there is a picture but no need for a tertiary content column on the right.
